I have owned slr cameras from the big three camera makers, so I was able to do shot-for-shot comparisons. I can tell you that the sum photographic quality produced by the Leica Z2-X camera is incredibly high. It's a lot better than 90% of the major camera manufacturer's lenses. I bought the Leica Z2-X solely for those spur-of-the-moment outdoor trips that might need a quick snapshot here and there, so this is the perfect backpacking and fishing camera. It's light and compact; the handling is pretty much like a standard point-and-shoot camera. The autoexposure and autofocusing is nearly flawless. For sample photos, go to flickr dot com.
Description of Leica Z2X 35mm Camera
The Leica Z2X is a high-quality 35mm compact zoom camera that allows you to get the shot you need in almost any situation. The Z2X (Zstands for "zoom" and 2X stands for "double focal length range") boasts a fully automatic exposure control and focus system that ensures well-balanced exposures with maximum ease. It also has a manual override for more creative shooting. The flash activates automatically in low light or can be turned off altogether.The outstanding Leica Vario-Elmar 35-70mm zoom lens uses optical glass of the highest quality. Special coatings on the lens surface, combined with the best glass, are designed to capture true color as well as super-sharp, high-contrast images. The zoom has three settings--35mm, 50mm, and 70mm-- covering most of the usual needs for scenes such as landscapes, parties, and portraits. A self-timer is included with a frontal flashing-light countdown of approximately 10 seconds.
